The Brief

Kennedy Garden Centre had been serving the local community for over 30 years on word-of-mouth alone. As more customers searched online before driving to garden centres, they needed a digital presence that matched the quality of their plants — and made it easy for new customers to find their hours, location, and what's in season.

The Approach

We built a calm, photo-led website that puts the plants front and centre. Local SEO foundations ensure they show up when neighbours search for 'garden centre near me.' Hours and location are surfaced on every page. The site reads like the family business it is — warm, knowledgeable, and rooted in the community.

The Brand

The visual identity draws from the centre’s existing character: a colour palette of deep greens and warm earth tones, friendly serif typography for headers, and a warmth in the photography selection that mirrors the unhurried pace of a working nursery.

The logomark — a simplified leaf form — is clean enough to work at favicon scale, considered enough to carry the full brand feel on signage and print collateral.

The Website

Mobile-first design recognising that most customers browse on their phones in the car. Click-to-call phone integration, embedded directions, and a ‘what’s in season’ feature keep the site useful year-round. Page speed averages under 1.0 seconds — critical for local search rankings.

Every page surfaces the information a first-time visitor needs: hours, location, phone number, and what’s currently available. Content hierarchy was designed around the browsing pattern of someone deciding whether to make a 20-minute drive.

Local SEO

Schema markup for local business, structured data for opening hours, and Google Business Profile optimisation were built in from the start — not bolted on. Within 90 days, Kennedy Garden Centre ranked first for core local search terms and began generating a steady stream of first-time visitors from surrounding neighbourhoods.
